Oranga Hou is the Wellbeing arm of Ngāti Tamaoho. Our members by participating in hui a iwi and surveys have identified priorities for Ngāti Tamaoho.
These priorities have since formed the basis for work that has been completed, in progress or yet to come.
Oranga Hou priorities are:
Much work has been done and continues in the education area. An education plan has been developed which details what we plan to do as a hapu. Adult Community Education is of high priority and as such we will be delivering Adult Community Education classes from 2016.
In the Health sector, we will be conducting research in 2016 to identify the links between cultural identity and health. Ngāti Tamaoho members will be sent a request to participate in this research. It is the first of its kind and could open the doorway for further research opportunities.
We are currently investigating economic development opportunities.
